1,200 Trees to Be Planted on Ali Gaffar Okkan Boulevard

As part of its efforts to increase green spaces across the city and create a sustainable environment, Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality is moving on to surface works in its landscaping project on Ali Gaffar Okkan Boulevard. To enhance the green space, 1,200 new trees and 30,000 shrubs will be planted in the area.

Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality continues its efforts to strengthen the city’s ecological fabric. As part of these efforts, the project being carried out by the Department of Parks and Gardens across a total area of 67,500 square metres on Ali Gaffar Okkan Boulevard aims to contribute to the city’s modern urban development vision. During the first phase of the works, the focus was on critical infrastructure works to ensure that the site can provide long-lasting and trouble-free service. During this process, the irrigation, electricity and drainage systems, as well as soil filling works, were completed in full, allowing work to proceed to the surface works.

Residents to benefit from new running track

As a result of the meticulous work carried out by teams from the Department of Parks and Gardens, a running track is being constructed to meet the needs of boulevard residents and sports enthusiasts. Initial tree and shrub planting has also been carried out. The teams will continue planting trees to enrich the city’s green fabric in line with the planned schedule.

1,200 new trees and 30,000 shrubs being planted

One of the most notable aspects of the project, which was designed with an approach centred on sustainable environmental management, is the importance given to nature. As part of the project, existing trees on the site are being carefully preserved, while 1,200 new trees and 30,000 shrubs are being planted to further enhance the green space.

Once completed, Ali Gaffar Okkan Boulevard will provide residents of Diyarbakır with a green space where they can breathe and enjoy a renewed infrastructure, a modern running track and thousands of new plants.
