An Artistic Encounter Linking Rennes Opera with Diyarbakır

Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality will host a free screening of Jacques Offenbach’s opera Robinson Crusoé as part of ‘Opera on Screen’, an event bringing together 17 partner cities across 13 countries. The screening will take place at Çand Amed Culture and Congress Centre on Friday 6 November at 8.30 pm.

Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality is taking part in an international cultural event that brings different cities together through the arts. As part of ‘Opera on Screen’, Robinson Crusoé, performed by Rennes Opera, will be presented to audiences in Diyarbakır in a screening.

The initiative was launched by Rennes Métropole as part of the European Dialogues programme organised by Les Champs Libres. It aims to bring together municipalities within Rennes Métropole and their sister and partner cities around a shared artistic work.

17 Cities from 13 Countries Unite for a Shared Cultural Experience

The 2026 programme features 17 partner cities from 13 countries: Germany, China, the United States, France, Ireland, Japan, Palestine, Poland, Romania, the United Kingdom, Türkiye, Ukraine and Vietnam.

Although screenings may take place on different dates and at different times due to time differences between countries, they will all form part of the same international cultural event. This will allow audiences in different parts of the world to share a cultural experience by watching the same work.

Free Screening Open to Everyone

The Diyarbakır screening of Robinson Crusoé will take place at Çand Amed Culture and Congress Centre on Friday 6 November at 8.30 pm. Free and open to everyone, the event will welcome opera enthusiasts as well as those wishing to experience opera for the first time.
