Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality Co-Mayors Serra Bucak and Emin Ay paid a congratulatory visit to Fatime İzol Levent and Yunus Muratakan, who were elected as DEM Party Diyarbakır Provincial Co-Chairs following the 3rd Ordinary Congress of the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Diyarbakır Provincial Organisation.

During the visit to the DEM Party Provincial Organisation building, views were exchanged on work being carried out in the city and activities in the field of local government. The Co-Mayors wished the newly elected administration success in their roles and conveyed messages of unity and solidarity.

Co-Mayor Bucak: It is clear that we will achieve much more together

Speaking during the visit, Co-Mayor Serra Bucak assessed the congress process and goals for the period ahead. Co-Mayor Bucak said:

“We wanted to visit our friends and wish each and every one of them success individually. It was a good congress. Thank you all for your efforts. I mean, even from the way the congress was organised, it is clear that this new administration will continue its work with the same enthusiasm and readiness, and that together we will achieve much better things than before. It was a truly successful, enthusiastic and good congress. The participation was good and the speeches were good. Of course, while doing this, we would like to sincerely thank our previous administration. There are certainly friends from our previous administration who will continue in this administration. We also wish them success in the new term.”

‘It is valuable to be able to strengthen our organisation’

Recalling that Turkish politics has experienced difficult periods for many years, Co-Mayor Bucak drew attention to the process of peace and democratisation. Co-Mayor Bucak added that it was highly valuable to turn the current atmosphere into an initiative and a positive momentum, and to strengthen the organisation.

Co-Mayor Ay: We will continue our struggle to build a democratic way of life

Co-Mayor Emin Ay said that their faith and hopes were strong, adding that the process for a democratic society and peace would be carried out in coordination with local governments and other institutions and would strengthen the work being undertaken. Emphasising the importance of the current process, Co-Mayor Ay said that they would continue all their work with the aim of building a democratic way of life.

Following the speeches, Fatime İzol Levent and Yunus Muratakan expressed their pleasure at the visit and thanked Co-Mayors Serra Bucak and Emin Ay.

‘We are not alone; we will support one another’

Fatime İzol expressed her pleasure at visits from both residents and institutions since they took office, saying: “We are not alone. When we support one another, we can remove all the obstacles in front of us; it seems that this is how it will be. As long as we remain in constant communication with one another, supporting each other through constructive language and good work.”

DEM Party Diyarbakır Provincial Co-Chair Yunus Muratakan said: “Let us keep each other informed and give each other strength. Your visit made us happy; I thank you all. We are already in communication with one another in our work. Your support is very important to us. You are most welcome.”

Co-Mayors Bucak and Ay were accompanied during the visit by DBB Assembly Co-Spokespersons Demet Ceylan and Ayhan Karatekin, as well as council members.
