DBB Council Member Madenkuyu Attends the 49th Plenary Session of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe
Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality Council Member Kader Uzun Madenkuyu attended the 49th Plenary Session of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, where she raised the issue of trustee appointments and cultural and social rights, particularly the right to education and public services in one's mother tongue.
Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality (DBB) Council Member Kader Uzun Madenkuyu and Abdullah Zeydan, the removed Co-Mayor of Van Metropolitan Municipality, attended the 49th Plenary Session of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, held in Strasbourg, France.
During their meetings on the sidelines of the plenary session, Madenkuyu and Zeydan raised recent developments in the ongoing process, the practice of appointing trustees and the European Court of Human Rights' rulings on violations of rights. Discussions also addressed cultural and social rights, particularly the right to use one's mother tongue.
Meeting with the Congress President and Turkey's Rapporteurs
Together with Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Representative to the Council of Europe Fayik Yağızay and the party's diplomatic team, Madenkuyu and Zeydan met with Marc Cools, President of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, and Turkey's rapporteurs, Bryony Rudkin and David Eray.
