Overcoming Barriers Through the Active Life Centre

The Active Life Centre, established by the Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality within Parkorman, offers various activities for individuals with special needs, from music to hobby rooms.

 Operating under the Department of Social Services and accessible to all persons with disabilities, the centre includes music, computer, hobby and painting workshops, a gym, and a pre-school child development class for children with special needs. The centre, which also has a seminar hall, hosts 50 individuals with special needs every day. At the Active Life Centre, where activities are organised according to the developmental characteristics and needs of individuals, there are currently 300 registered students.

Training is provided in 10 different branches across 8 workshops

The centre, which operates with the aim of supporting the independence of individuals with special needs, improving environmental conditions, enhancing their capacities, and contributing to the development of their psycho-motor skills to improve their quality of life, provides training in 8 workshops with 10 subject teachers and 7 special education teachers.

Artı 1 Café

Artı 1 Café, located within the Active Life Centre, offers training to help individuals with Down syndrome socialise. People with disabilities receive training from experts in dough preparation and service. Individuals with special needs learn new skills and enjoy a different activity with their friends.
