Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality Co-Mayor Serra Bucak took part in the local government event organised by the SPD group at the Hannover Congress Centre, ahead of the 43rd General Assembly of the German Association of Cities.

The Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) group organised a local government event at the Hannover Congress Centre on the eve of the 43rd General Assembly of the German Association of Cities, which will take place today. Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality Co-Mayor Serra Bucak, Bağlar Municipality Co-Mayor Siraç Çelik and municipal council members travelled to Hannover, Germany, to attend the meeting of the German Association of Cities.

At the event, speeches were delivered by SPD parliamentary spokesperson Kerstin Kelebe-Politze, Mayor of Braunschweig Thorsten Kornblum, and SPD Hannover Party Chair and Prime Minister of Lower Saxony Olaf Lies. They spoke about the concept of democracy in local governments and the role of urban democracy.

The speakers also thanked the Diyarbakır local government delegation for their participation. The meeting further addressed cooperation to be pursued between Lower Saxony – particularly the city of Hannover – and Diyarbakır.
