Nazlı Bozkurt, an athlete training under Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality, won third place in Türkiye at the Türkiye Premier League U21 and Senior Karate Championship.
The fifth leg of the Türkiye Karate Premier League, organised by the Türkiye Karate Federation, was held in Diyarbakır. The two-day event brought together more than one thousand athletes from 187 clubs across many provinces of Türkiye. Nazlı Bozkurt, who trains under the Department of Youth and Sports Services of Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality, was among the competitors in the Türkiye Premier League U21 and Senior Karate Championship.
Athletes from different cities across the country competed in various categories according to their age groups.
Bozkurt outperformed her tough opponents in the U21 Kumite 55 kg category to claim third place in Türkiye.
At the end of the fifth leg of the Türkiye Karate Premier League, medals and trophies were presented to the top-ranking athletes in an official ceremony.
According to the Türkiye Karate Federation calendar, athletes who accumulate points throughout the Premier League will go on to compete for the championship. Following the final, the overall ranking will be announced, and the top athletes will earn the right to represent Türkiye at the team level.
‘I will bring the gold medal to Diyarbakır’
Expressing her joy after her victory, Nazlı Bozkurt, a licensed athlete of Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality, stressed that her goal is to reach the final of the Türkiye Championship and bring the gold medal to Diyarbakır. Bozkurt said:
“Today, the Türkiye Premier League was held here. I won third place in the U21 55 kg category. I would like to thank Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality for supporting me. Hopefully, in the upcoming Türkiye Championship, I will reach the final and bring the gold medal to Diyarbakır.”
‘I will represent Diyarbakır in the best way possible’
Bozkurt added that she would now begin preparing for the Türkiye Championship, stating:
“I believe I have made my family, my coaches, and our municipality proud, and I will represent Diyarbakır in the best way possible.”
