DBB reviews Rennes Municipality’s waste recovery model

Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality carried out site visits at the City of Rennes’ solid waste facility to strengthen its waste management and recycling practices.

Teams from Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality’s Department of Environmental Protection and Control and the Department of Climate Change and Zero Waste visited the solid waste facility operated by the City of Rennes in the Brittany region of France.

During the visit, facility officials provided a detailed briefing on the full process—from separation at source to converting waste into energy. They also shared information on the city’s waste policies and strategies, and how a culture of recycling has been developed. The meetings also explored potential joint work between the two municipalities in this field.

The visit was accompanied by Marie Neuschwander, Director of the Waste Management Department at Rennes Métropole, and Benoît Guigue, Head of the Facilities and Reuse Unit.
