DMM accommodates stranded residents in hotels amid heavy snowfall

Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality has accommodated residents who were stranded in the city and facing housing difficulties due to heavy snowfall.

Following heavy snowfall in Diyarbakır from Monday through to Thursday, which disrupted daily life, the Metropolitan Municipality responded rapidly to emergency assistance requests from residents. Acting on reports received via the Alo 153 Call Centre, teams from the Department of Municipal Police (Zabıta) provided support to residents who were stranded in the city.

A total of 32 residents—who became stranded in the city centre due to adverse weather conditions while travelling to Diyarbakır from other cities and who were experiencing accommodation problems—were collected by municipal teams in vehicles and placed in several hotels in the city, as well as the Teachers’ House (Öğretmen Evi).

All basic needs of the residents during their stay in the hotels and the Teachers’ House were met by Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality.

Municipal teams will continue their work throughout the period of adverse weather conditions to ensure that residents do not face hardship.
