Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality will build the Naturapark project on a total area of 300,000 square metres, bringing a new breath of fresh air and a significant green space to the city.
The Department of Parks and Gardens continues its work to create a sustainable ecological lifestyle. Within this scope, the city’s largest park will be built on a 300,000 square metre area at the intersection of Prof. Dr. Necmettin Erbakan Boulevard and Fırat Boulevard in Kayapınar district (opposite Diyarbakır Stadium).
In order to create new ecological green spaces in the city, the Department of Parks and Gardens is bringing its projects to life one by one and will soon launch works on site to establish this vast park.
Project designed with existing trees preserved
The Department of Parks and Gardens will construct the Naturapark by preserving the trees previously planted in the 300,000 square metre area. In addition, new plants will also be planted in the site as part of the project.
Bicycle and walking paths to be built
To promote healthy living, the Metropolitan Municipality will include bicycle paths, a walking route, and fitness equipment to be placed at various points along the walking route in its new project.
Accessible Playground
The Parks and Gardens Department will establish accessible playgrounds in Naturapark to ensure that children with disabilities can also benefit. In addition to traditional play equipment for children, a survivor course will be set up in designated sections of the green area.
Biological ponds will be included within the area
Taking into account the damage caused to nature by excessive energy consumption, the Metropolitan Municipality will prevent significant energy use in the new project by replacing conventional pools with biological ponds in Naturapark.
In this new park, the Parks and Gardens Department will also provide seating areas, free activity spaces, male and female WCs, a prayer room, and walking paths.
