Women’s Health Trainer Education Programme Launched

Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality has launched a Women’s Health Trainer Education Programme for women.

Women face different roles, responsibilities and changes throughout their lives. However, too often they are forced to continue their lives alone, without support and without access to adequate information about these changes. For this reason, the Department of Women and Family Services has initiated the Women’s Health Trainer Education Programme, designed to equip women with knowledge about their bodies, health and rights, and to support them in becoming more self-confident individuals.

The training-of-trainers programme, attended by staff from women’s directorates in central and district municipalities, will last seven days. The 22 participants who complete the training will later be able to deliver the 10-module Women’s Health Education Programme within groups they form locally.

Covering topics such as changes beginning in adolescence, essential knowledge on reproductive health, pregnancy and postnatal processes, the menopause period, and communication, the Women’s Health Education Programme aims to help women better understand their own bodies, recognise the social roles, expectations and inequalities affecting their health, and be encouraged to develop solutions to address these inequalities.
