Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality provided summer courses in nine different fields to support women’s employment and to develop social responsibility projects, benefiting 1,500 women.
The Department of Women and Family Services supported women in employment through summer courses organised at the Women’s Life Centres throughout the summer.
Certificates for 1,500 Women Trainees
At six Women’s Life Centres operating in different neighbourhoods under the Department of Women and Family Services, vocational and hobby courses were provided for women in a total of nine different fields, including 10 in Textile, 8 in Handicrafts, 6 in Reading and Writing, Accounting, Music (Instrument), Sports, Cookery, 2 in Study Support and 13 in Qur’an Courses. A total of 1,500 women benefited from the summer courses offered in these nine fields.
At the Sports course continuing at the Koşuyolu Women’s Life Centre, around 200 women also benefited from sports activities such as self-defence, close combat, exercise, and pilates. The women trainees were entitled to receive certificates approved by the Public Education Centre.
Children were not forgotten either
While women had the opportunity to improve themselves through activities held throughout the summer, children were not forgotten. A total of 169 children benefited from the educational support provided in two study classrooms under the guidance of instructors.
Social Activities Organised
In the playrooms of the Women’s Life Centres, activities were organised by child development specialists for the children of women attending the courses. A total of 569 children took part in the activities in the playrooms. As part of social activities, 130 children were taken to the cinema, 40 to the theatre, and 15 to the swimming pool.
Gender Equality Training
In addition to the courses, many other activities were organised in the Women’s Life Centres. Within this scope, 361 women participated in an awareness-raising activity on gender equality.
