Education Begins at Zarokistan Nurseries Offering Multilingual Services

The first bell rang for the 2024–2025 academic year at Zarokistan Nurseries and Day-care Centres, which will provide multilingual services under Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality.

The Department of Social Services completed preparations for the new academic year at Zarokistan Nurseries and Day-care Centres, which had been rendered non-functional during the period of trustees.

The Department of Public Works carried out extensive renovations at the Zarokistan Nurseries and Day Care Centres in Bağcılar and 450 Evler.

Students began their lessons

Following the completion of the work, the first bell rang at Zarokistan, and students began their lessons.

The opening ceremony for the educational institutions was attended by Deputy Chief Executive Zerin Türk and Özgür Yıldız, council members, department heads and parents.

After cutting the opening ribbons, the Deputy Chief Executive and their companions toured the classrooms, taking a close interest in the students and parents.

We Will Increase the Number of Zarokistan Centres

Speaking at the opening, Council Member of the Metropolitan Municipality, Demet Ceylan, said that they were very excited to reopen Zarokistan after eight years.

Wishing Zarokistan to be beneficial for Diyarbakır and its children, Ceylan said:

“Today we opened the Zarokistan centres. We welcomed the children and their families with great excitement. Children are our future, and whatever we do for their future is never enough. These efforts will continue, and in the coming period we will increase the number of Zarokistan centres. I wish success to the children in their education.”

360 students will receive education

Head of the Department of Social Services, Serkan Demirkıran, also expressed the excitement of reopening the Zarokistan centres, stating:

“As Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality, we have opened our Zarokistan nurseries. At our 450 Evler nursery, we have started to serve a total of 160 pupils. As before, we have once again begun with multilingual education. At our Bağcılar nursery, we started with 200 pupils. Altogether, we will provide services for 360 pupils.”

We Aim to Increase the Number of Our Nurseries

Emphasising that they provide services in line with the demands of the public, Demirkıran said:

“We will provide children with three meals a day, including breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon meal. We aim to increase the number of these nurseries across the city. We will also make them available to the public.”

Pre-School Education

At Zarokistan Nurseries and Day-care Centres, children aged 3–6 will be provided with skills within the scope of pre-school education. As part of social activities, children will benefit from drama, music, and art workshops.

Pre-school activities at the Nurseries and Day-care Centres will be offered in multiple languages. Children will be able to benefit from the Zarokistan nurseries on weekdays between 08:00 and 17:00.
