Deputy Speaker of Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality Council, Evin Yelboğa, drew attention to 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and stated that they will work together to end violence against women.
The Metropolitan Municipality Council held the 19th session of its regular November meetings. The session, chaired by Deputy Speaker Evin Yelboğa, was attended by council members. At the opening of the session, Deputy Speaker Yelboğa delivered a speech regarding 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
Stating that the Metropolitan Municipality and district municipalities had launched a one-year campaign entitled “Our word is not over, we will stop violence together” for 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, Yelboğa said: “With the motto ‘Our word is not over, we will stop violence together’, we will work collectively to put an end to violence. We have all made this commitment together. 25 November is not a day that can be confined to a single date, because women are subjected to physical, verbal and psychological violence every day. Men must also support this struggle. We will always be present in the public sphere—our word is not over, and together we will stop violence.”
