Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality organised activities for children on the occasion of 20 November, World Children’s Day.
Events were held for children at the Zarokistan Nurseries and Day Care Centres in 450 Evler, Bağcılar and Sümerpark, operating under the Department of Social Services, as well as at the Women’s Centre in the Ben û Sen neighbourhood of Yenişehir district, to mark 20 November, World Children’s Day.
Children both learned and had fun
At the event held at the Ben û Sen Women’s Centre in cooperation with the Department of Social Services’ Child Services Unit and the Department of Culture and Social Affairs, children were informed about the significance of the day. Following a presentation on children’s rights, the children took part in a music session with percussion instruments.
Through the Painting Workshop, the children showcased their skills by creating artworks. Drama activities themed around children’s rights were also carried out. After the music session, where the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves, banners prepared on the theme of children’s rights were displayed.
During the event, children were presented with various stationery items as gifts.
Children informed about their rights
At the events held at the Zarokistan Nurseries and Day Care Centres in 450 Evler, Bağcılar and Sümerpark, lawyer Çiğdem Ertak met with the children to explain their rights. Ertak spoke to the children about their legal rights, their right to education, and the rights they hold in communication with their surroundings.
The event was attended by Serap Yıldırım, Head of the Department of Social Services, along with teachers and parents.
