Students Receive Disaster Awareness Training

Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality has organised theoretical and practical disaster awareness sessions for teachers and students.

The Disaster Affairs Department has been delivering disaster awareness training in schools on what to do before, during and after emergencies. As part of this programme, at Yenişehir Primary School teachers and students were shown, in practice, an earthquake drill and methods for extinguishing fires.

Hands-on training delivered

The training first provided students with practical instruction on correct behaviours in disaster response and during an earthquake, emergency evacuation procedures, and initial response to fire. Afterwards, teachers and students assembled in the school yard were given a hands-on demonstration of tackling potential fires using fire extinguishers.

Aiming to promote correct behaviour by residents during disasters

By providing instruction on what to do before, during and after emergencies, the disaster awareness training aims to ensure residents display appropriate behaviours in the event of disasters.

Training to continue in schools

Within the scope of the protocol with the Provincial Directorate of National Education, the disaster awareness training will continue in other schools in the coming days.
