Solidarity and support visit to oncology patients

A solidarity and support visit was paid by Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality to the Yeniden Yaşam Cancer Support Association.

As part of its social responsibility work, the Rare and Chronic Diseases Branch—which operates under the Municipality’s Department of Services for People with Disabilities and Older People—organised a solidarity and support visit to the Diyarbakır Yeniden Yaşam Cancer Support Association.

The visit was attended by Sevda Erdem Ateş, Manager of the Rare and Chronic Diseases Branch, branch staff, Şükrü Abay, Chair of the Association, and the Association’s neighbourhood representatives—women cancer patients.

Speaking during the visit, Ateş shared information on the social taxi service delivered for oncology patients, psychological counselling, and social support work for patients and their relatives. She noted that these services help patients access treatment regularly and contribute to their psychosocial wellbeing.

Support provided: 100 vests

As part of the solidarity visit, the Rare and Chronic Diseases Branch provided 100 vests, commissioned to support the Association’s work and to be used on 4 February, World Cancer Day, and in subsequent activities.

Association Chair Abay underlined that the Metropolitan Municipality has implemented important work addressing cancer, adding that the visit and the solidarity shown will strengthen efforts to improve patients’ quality of life.
