Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality (DBB) has made the second instalment payment of its education support scheme for student households whose members have enrolled at university for the first time this year.

Under the programme run by the Department of Social Services to strengthen equality of opportunity in education, a total education grant of TRY 20,000 has been provided to 6,631 student households residing in Diyarbakır. The support covers students who have been placed for the first time in state universities or in fully funded (100% scholarship) programmes at private universities.

The first instalment of the TRY 20,000 grant was paid as TRY 10,000 in November. The second instalment of TRY 10,000 was deposited into students’ accounts in February. As a result, a total of TRY 66,310,000 in cash support was transferred to student households in February.

Total support reaches TRY 132,620,000

With the education support delivered in two instalments, the total amount transferred by Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality to student households has reached TRY 132,620,000. Eligible students were notified via SMS.
