The Women’s Human Rights Training Programme, launched through a partnership between Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality and the Women’s Human Rights Association, will run for 16 weeks with the participation of 20 women.
The Women’s Policies Department and the Women’s Human Rights Association (KİH) have implemented the Women’s Human Rights Training Programme (KİHEP). The programme, to be held one day a week, will last a total of 16 weeks and will be delivered with the participation of 20 women from the DBB Women’s Assembly.
Designed to help women learn about the rights they hold at national and international levels, defend these rights, and use them effectively in daily life, the programme also aims to expand public awareness by encouraging participants to share their knowledge and experience with other women. KİHEP seeks to increase women’s access to rights-based information, strengthen their self-confidence, and support more effective participation in decision-making processes—contributing to empowerment at both individual and collective levels.
'The programme also creates a space where women can build solidarity'
KİHEP Trainer Rojda Kızgın stated that the programme is not only a training process but also creates a strong foundation of solidarity among women. “Beyond learning about their rights, the programme aims to empower women as individuals who can claim and defend these rights. As women become stronger, they contribute to building more equal relationships within the family, in working life, and in the public sphere. One of the most important outcomes is the strengthening of solidarity among women and the wider spread of rights-based struggle,” Kızgın said.
As part of the programme, participants will be supported through active group work. Training modules include: “Women’s Human Rights; Constitutional and Civil Rights; Violence Against Women and Domestic Violence; Strategies Against Violence; Women’s Economic Rights; Communication; and Women and Politics.”
