Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality offered sweets, Turkish delight and cologne to residents at various locations across the city during Eid al-Fitr.
In addition to providing free public transport throughout the Eid holiday and operating free shuttle services to cemeteries, Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality also distributed sweets, Turkish delight and cologne to residents at different points across the city.
Holiday tradition maintained at cemeteries
Teams from the Department of Health Affairs offered treats to residents at all cemeteries across the city, where holiday visits were especially busy. By serving sweets, Turkish delight and cologne to those visiting the cemeteries, the teams helped keep alive the spirit of solidarity and sharing associated with the holiday.
Treats offered at busy locations across the city
The Department of Press, Publications and Public Relations also offered treats to residents at Diyarbakır Intercity Bus Terminal (DİŞTİ) and Ceylan Shopping Centre. Residents travelling for the holiday or out shopping were welcomed with these refreshments.
“We are celebrating Eid with our residents”
Commenting on the initiative, Berivan Güneş, Head of the Department of Press, Publications and Public Relations, said: “As Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality, we continue to come together with our residents. On the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, we are celebrating the holiday with our residents both at Ceylan Shopping Centre and at the intercity bus terminal. As the Metropolitan Municipality, we are marking the holiday here with residents who are away from their families, in the hope of easing their longing, even if only a little. I wish all our residents a happy Eid al-Fitr and many more holidays in good health.”
