Co-Mayor Bucak: The Kurdish people are extremely clear about peace
In her speech at the celebration, Co-Mayor Bucak said they had brought greetings from Amed and a message of Newroz. Also extending Eid al-Fitr greetings to participants, Bucak drew attention to the heavy price the region has paid through years of conflict and said: “Our people, our youth, our precious mothers and our pioneers have all paid a very heavy price. This geography now needs peace, democracy, equality, freedom and the will to live together. The Kurdish people are extremely clear on this matter, because they have paid the price in this regard. They have woven the path to peace stitch by stitch. We now know that we are passing through a deeply historic process, a deeply historic period. In order to make this understanding of democracy, peace and freedom prevail, first and foremost in our own region, our own geography and our country, and across the whole of the Middle East, the Kurdish people will once again fulfil the responsibility that falls upon them in the fullest and most достойный way.”
“We need to embrace the peace process”
Drawing attention to the Process for Peace and a Democratic Society, Co-Mayor Bucak said: “My thanks to all our people for their efforts. This road to peace, this road to freedom and equality, has been made possible through the price you have paid, the labour you have given and the faith you have shown in this struggle. There has been a peace process for around a year and a half now, and all of us need to embrace it. In our cities, in our towns, and in every space where we are present, we need to explain what this peace means for us and how deeply this society needs peace. With our belief that you will do this, I greet you all with respect and affection.”
