Women working in transport receive gender equality training

At a gender equality training session organised for women employees working within Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality’s Department of Transportation, the fight against violence against women was addressed.

The training, titled “Gender Equality and Combating Violence Against Women”, was delivered by the Training Unit of the Department of Women’s Policies for women staff employed by the Department of Transportation. A large number of women attended the programme, which was held at the Quça Women’s Life Centre.

Equality and combating violence discussed

The training, delivered by instructor Eylem Kaya, explored in detail the concept of gender, the relationship between equality and inequality, and the visible and invisible forms of inequality encountered in everyday life. Participants were also provided with comprehensive information on the different forms of violence against women and the mechanisms that can be accessed in such situations.

The session underlined that gender equality cannot be achieved through legal arrangements alone, but also depends on the relationships individuals build in daily life and the attitudes they adopt. Participants reflected on these issues together during the training. At the end of the programme, the women employees shared their views and experiences and exchanged ideas.
