Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality Co-Mayors Serra Bucak and Doğan Hatun welcomed a delegation from Streetbolzer e.V. Foundation, based in Kassel, Germany. During the meeting, views were exchanged on joint projects centred on youth, sport and peace.
Representatives and team members of Streetbolzer e.V. Foundation, which carries out street football initiatives and works to support young people’s integration into society, visited the Metropolitan Municipality as part of the Societal Peace and Freedom Forum after arriving in Diyarbakır from Kassel, Germany. During the visit, they met with Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality Co-Mayors Serra Bucak and Doğan Hatun to exchange views on the Societal Peace and Freedom Forum as well as ongoing work in the fields of youth and sport.
The meeting addressed inclusive street football initiatives, alternative supporter culture and youth-focused social projects. In particular, discussions focused on the role of sport in strengthening peace, solidarity and a culture of coexistence through workshops to be held with children and supporter groups.
The meeting also underlined that sport is an important tool in keeping young people away from harmful habits, while emphasising the importance of bringing young people from different cultures together to build a shared language of living together.
Founded in 2009, Streetbolzer e.V. is a non-profit organisation carrying out football and culture-based work for children and young people. The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to developing joint projects for young people and children with Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality, ensuring the continuity of workshop activities and strengthening international cooperation in the period ahead.
