Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality will organise various events to mark 8 March International Working Women’s Day. The Women’s Choir, formed by female municipal staff, will also take the stage for the first time on 28 February.
The Metropolitan Municipality launched its 8 March International Working Women’s Day events on 21 February. The Department of Women and Family Services will organise a series of activities until 8 March. The aim of the events is to strengthen women’s solidarity and to raise awareness.
According to the planned programme, the following activities will be held: “On 24 February at Kuçe Neighbourhood Women’s Life Centre and on 26 February at Lalebey Life Centre; on 27 February in a rural neighbourhood together with Kulp Municipality and at Ben û Sen Women’s Life Centre, the 8 March Festival and Women’s Gathering (13:00); on 26 February at Koşuyolu Women’s Life Centre, Women’s Gathering (10:00); on 25 February, Passolig applications (12:00) and attendance at the Amedspor match to be played on 4 March; on 26 February at Çand Amed Culture and Congress Centre, screening of the film ‘My Name is Mutlu’ (19:00); on 1 March at Çand Amed Culture and Congress Centre, the play ‘Mori’ (14:00); between 1–6 March, visits together with Sur Municipality and Yenişehir Municipality to women working in brick production and other factories; on 2 March, attendance at Amedspor women’s football team match.” Theatre and film screenings will be free of charge.
Women’s Choir to perform for the first time
As part of the 8 March events, the Women’s Choir, formed by the Women’s Council of Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality from female municipal staff, will give its first concert on 28 February. Continuing its preparations, the Women’s Choir will take the stage at 14:00 at Çand Amed Culture and Congress Centre.
