As part of its digital municipal services, the Metropolitan Municipality has launched a map-based web Travel Guide application, accessible 24/7. Compatible with mobile devices such as smartphones, the application enables users to easily access the city’s historical and cultural sites.

Within the framework of its digital municipal vision, Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality has introduced an important project to boost the city’s tourism potential. The Municipality has made available to citizens the map-based web Travel Guide application, which can be accessed at any time, day or night.

Developed in cooperation between the Department of Information Technology and the Department of Culture and Social Affairs, the application allows users to access the city’s historical and cultural landmarks through their mobile devices with ease.

Built with open-source infrastructure

Developed by the Geographic Information Systems Branch Directorate, the Travel Guide was created using open-source software. The application offers users rich content by presenting tourist attractions on the map with both visuals and text. It also provides directions to these locations.

Tourism routes and live location support

Fully compatible with mobile browsers, the application’s “Tourism Routes” menu allows users to explore a variety of tours. Thanks to live location support, users can also follow their own routes via the application. In addition, information on gastronomy, transport and accommodation is available.
