Vocational Training Courses for Women Continue

Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality continues its vocational training programmes aimed at increasing women’s participation in economic life and providing employment opportunities.

Through the Directorate of Lifelong Learning under the Department of Social Services, Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality’s Art and Vocational Training Courses (DİSMEK) offer hairdressing courses for women, helping them to acquire professional skills while also providing services to low-income groups.

At the hairdressing courses held in Göletli Park and Sümerpark, 34 women are receiving training in haircutting, colouring, styling, make-up and personal care. The training programme, which began on 15 December 2024, continued until July. From the second week of July onwards, new applications will be accepted and the courses will continue.

Free services for low-income women

As part of fieldwork, trainees provide free hairdressing services to low-income women. In cooperation with the Department of Women and Family Services, a total of 110 women have so far received personal care services at the Ben û Sen Women’s Life Centre and Quça Women’s Life Centre.

Personal care services for people with disabilities

The Department of Disability and Elderly Services has also launched personal care services for individuals registered at the YeniÅŸehir Day Care Centre (Mola Evi). Services such as haircutting and styling are being provided, and the programme will be extended to other units under the Department of Disability and Elderly Services.
