Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality organised a visit to the Agroecology Climate School as part of the Medicinal and Aromatic Plant Cultivation Workshop launched at women’s centres.
The Medicinal and Aromatic Plant Cultivation Workshop, initiated by the Department of Women’s and Family Services to rekindle women’s age-old bond with nature, continues free of charge at women’s centres.
To enable participants to become more familiar with medicinal and aromatic plants and to learn about their uses, a study visit was organised to the Agroecology Climate School, which operates under the Department of Climate Change and Zero Waste.
150 women took part in the activity
A total of 150 women took part in the activity, held over five groups on different days. During the visit, information was provided on the properties and uses of plants such as lavender, rosemary, medicinal mint, valerian and echinacea.
The women were also briefed on agroecological farming methods, rainwater harvesting, the importance of local seeds, the production of vermicompost and community-based solutions to the climate crisis.
