Kurdish theatre season opens

Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality’s Kurdish theatre events for November have opened with the play Xulamê Du Xudanan (The Servant of Two Masters) by the ŞanoWan ensemble.

Organised by Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality City Theatres, which operate under the Department of Culture and Social Affairs, the November programme of Kurdish theatre features four plays to be staged a total of six times.

As part of the opening, the ŞanoWan ensemble performed Xulamê Du Xudanan, a Kurdish adaptation of Italian writer Carlo Goldoni’s classic play Il servitore di due padroni. The production met audiences at the Çand Amed Culture and Congress Centre. The play was translated into Kurdish by Zana Jarr and directed by Ferhad Feqî. ŞanoWan cast members Ferhat Aslan, Eda Çavaş, Ercüment Erdemir, Fırat Atılgan, İlayda Şengöl, Nadiya Setvat, Seher Aslan and Welat Hakan Geçirgen won great acclaim for their performances.

Two performances in Ergani

The events will continue in Ergani on 16 November. At 13:00, the children’s play Ka Clown by the Dîwan Akademi ensemble will be staged at Ergani Municipality Conference Hall for young audiences. At 19:30, the Şaneşîn ensemble will perform the play Jı Kela Dimdimê in the same venue.

In addition, ŞanoWan’s Xulamê Du Xudanan will once again be staged at the Çand Amed Culture and Congress Centre on 16 November at 19:30.

Closing performances in Silvan

On the final day of the programme, 19 November, two different plays will be performed. At 15:00, Dîwan Akademi’s children’s play Ka Clown will be staged at Silvan Municipality Conference Hall, and at 20:00 the Yenisahne ensemble will meet theatre-goers with the play Bekoyê Ewan.
