Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality Co-Mayor Doğan Hatun met with representatives of CIEMEN, an organisation based in Barcelona that works in the field of minority and cultural rights.

Co-Mayor Hatun, who attended the 6th UCLG World Culture Summit held in Barcelona, Spain, continues his meetings in the city. Together with Siraç Çelik, Co-Mayor of Bağlar Municipality and President of the Union of Municipalities of Southeastern Anatolia (GABB); Fatma Gulan Önkol, Co-Mayor of Sur Municipality; and Zeynep Yaş, Head of the Department of Culture and Social Affairs of Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality, Co-Mayor Hatun visited the Escarré International Centre for Ethnic and National Minorities (CIEMEN).

The delegation was welcomed by CIEMEN President David Minoves Llucià and Coordinator Jordi Garrell. During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on strengthening cultural cooperation between Diyarbakır and Barcelona.

Both sides underlined their commitment to fulfilling their respective responsibilities in order to bring this initiative to life. CIEMEN representatives also emphasised the importance of solidarity among peoples and expressed their willingness to collaborate on cultural rights and joint projects.
