Under the protocol signed between Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality and the Provincial Health Directorate, women in Çınar district are provided with free breast cancer and cervical cancer screening services.

As part of the practice carried out in cooperation with the Cancer Early Diagnosis, Screening and Training Centre (KETEM), the Metropolitan Municipality provided free mammography support in Çınar for women wishing to undergo preventive tests against breast and cervical cancer.

Continuing its efforts to protect and improve public health, the Department of Health Affairs supports women aged between 40 and 69 who wish to undergo preventive tests against breast and cervical cancer, which are common in this age group.

Tests Conducted in Mobile Mammography Vehicle

Within this scope, the mobile mammography vehicle donated by the Metropolitan Municipality to the Provincial Health Directorate began providing services in front of Çınar District State Hospital.

Prior to the screening, awareness-raising activities were carried out by Çınar Municipality teams in central and rural neighbourhoods. Women wishing to benefit from the service were taken to mammography examinations by shuttle vehicles belonging to Çınar Municipality.

Subsequently, with the support of staff and equipment from the Health Directorate, women’s tests were carried out in the mobile vehicle.

Women are being informed about cancer

Head of the Department of Women and Family Services, Özden Gürbüz, met with women undergoing tests in Çınar and explained that preventive tests against cancer should not be neglected.

Service to continue in Çınar for 3 weeks

The mobile vehicle, which will conduct breast and cervical cancer screening for 40 women daily, will continue its work in Çınar for 3 weeks.

The mobile mammography vehicle will also provide services to women in other districts of Diyarbakır.
