Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality will launch the Women Bus Driver Licence Training Project in December with 28 women, with the aim of creating new employment opportunities for women and contributing to the strengthening of gender equality.
The Women and Family Services Department, together with the Transportation Department, developed the Women Bus Driver Licence Training Project. The project aims both to train women bus drivers, thereby opening up new fields of employment for women, and to contribute to gender equality.
Within the scope of the project, 258 women aged between 24 and 35 residing in Diyarbakır applied. Following the evaluations, 28 women were deemed eligible to participate in the Bus Driver Licence Training Project.
The project will start in December
With the project set to begin in December, 28 aspiring women bus drivers will receive theoretical, technical, practical, and field training in cooperation with driving schools.
Following the completion of the licensing process, Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality will also provide an additional one-month practical and field training programme, totalling 6 hours.
Expenses to be covered by the municipality
Within the scope of the project, the costs of the training courses and driving licences will be covered by Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality.
