Diyarbakır Promoted at ITB Berlin International Tourism Trade Fair

Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality took part in the Berlin International Tourism Trade Fair (ITB Berlin)—one of the world’s largest tourism events—introducing the city’s tourism potential to international tourism networks.

Held in Berlin, Germany’s capital, ITB Berlin—marking its 60th anniversary this year—opened its doors with the participation of more than 5,800 companies from 160 countries. Alongside Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality, participants included the Diyarbakır Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DTSO), the Tourism Unit of the Diyarbakır Organised Industrial Zone, the Hoteliers’ Association, the Confectioners’ Association, the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies (TÜRSAB), the Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism, tour guides and business representatives.

At the fair, Zeynep Yaş, Head of the Department of Culture, Arts and Social Affairs, represented Diyarbakır and held meetings with airline and tour companies, tour operators and travel agencies, discussing the city’s tourism potential. The contacts focused on connecting Diyarbakır’s historical, cultural and gastronomic richness with international tourism networks.

As part of the promotional activities carried out at the fair, exchanges were also held on cooperation opportunities and new tourism connections that could contribute to Diyarbakır’s tourism targets.

Running from 3 to 5 March, this year’s fair is being held under the theme “Discover the Stories Behind 60 Years of Heritage.”
