Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality Co-Mayor Serra Bucak visited departments based in the municipal service building to mark International Working Women’s Day on 8 March and celebrate the day with women members of staff.

As events organised by the Department of Women’s Policies for International Working Women’s Day continued, Co-Mayor Serra Bucak met with women employees working in the municipal building. Visiting individual departments, Bucak congratulated women staff on 8 March and stressed the need to further strengthen women’s struggle.

Highlighting the importance of strengthening women’s solidarity during the visit, Co-Mayor Bucak said: “Let us continue to strengthen the Women’s Assembly. Let us reinforce this space further through your ideas and suggestions. We look forward to your contributions and your strength.”

Bucak also called for participation in the rally to be organised by women’s civil society organisations at İstasyon Square on 8 March.

Women members of staff also celebrated International Working Women’s Day with Co-Mayor Serra Bucak and members of the Women’s Assembly, sharing messages of solidarity and collective struggle. During the visit, informational brochures and rally invitations prepared in Kurmanji, Zazaki and Turkish were distributed to women staff.

Co-Mayor Bucak was accompanied during the programme by Deputy Chief Executive Zerin Türk and Muhabbet Erdoğmuş, members of Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality Women’s Assembly, and heads of department.
