Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality Co-Mayors Serra Bucak and Doğan Hatun attended the public statement on the Newroz declaration held at Sümerpark.

A declaration was announced in Diyarbakır regarding this year’s Newroz celebrations, which will be held in at least 53 centres. Those attending the statement at Sümerpark included Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality Co-Mayors Serra Bucak and Doğan Hatun; Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Co-Chairs Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar and Keskin Bayındır; Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Co-Chair Tuncer Bakırhan; Democratic Unity Initiative Co-Spokesperson Mehmet Kamaç; DBB Council Co-Spokespersons Demet Ceylan and Ayhan Karatekin; as well as council members and representatives of political parties and civil society organisations.

In the statement, it was announced that this year’s Newroz celebrations, to be held in different cities, would be organised under the slogan “Newroz of Freedom and Democracy.”

The declaration stressed that every fire lit in the Newroz grounds this year would strengthen the will of the people.
