Public transport to be free during Eid al-Fitr

Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality will provide free public transport throughout Eid al-Fitr and will also operate free shuttle services to cemeteries on the eve of the holiday and on its first day.

The Department of Transportation has taken an important decision to make travel easier for residents during Eid al-Fitr. Under the new arrangement, public transport services in the city centre and the districts will be free of charge throughout the holiday.

As part of the measure, municipal public transport vehicles will operate free of charge for residents on 20, 21 and 22 March.

The decision was taken in view of holiday visits and increased mobility, with the aim of helping residents travel more easily and affordably. The Department of Transportation also stated that the necessary planning had been completed to respond to any increase in passenger demand during the holiday period.

Free shuttle services to cemeteries

The Metropolitan Municipality will also introduce a special service for cemeteries, which see a rise in visits during the holiday. On the eve of Eid and on the first day of the holiday, free shuttle services will be operated to cemeteries.

Within this scope, 44 vehicles will run on designated routes to ensure that residents can visit cemeteries easily.
