Dutch Ambassador Visits Co-Mayors

Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality Co-Mayors, Serra Bucak and Doğan Hatun, hosted Joep Wijnands, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Ankara.

Ambassador Wijnands, accompanied by Céline Abeln, Second Secretary for Political Affairs at the Embassy, visited the Co-Mayors of Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality.

Following the reception, the Co-Mayors held a meeting with Wijnands.

The discussions focused on strengthening friendly relations between Turkey and the Netherlands at the local level, as well as opportunities for cooperation in areas such as democratisation, development, and social peace. Developments regarding the resolution of the Kurdish question were also addressed, with the Co-Mayors emphasising the importance of all forms of dialogue that contribute to social peace. The meeting also highlighted that international solidarity based on democratic values supports the empowerment of local governments.

Deputy Chief Executive Zerin Türk, Head of the Department of Strategic Planning and Projects Murat Akbaş, and Municipal Councillor Gülay Kılıç accompanied the Co-Mayors during the visit.
