Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality will organise an event under the slogan “Choose Red for Autism” to raise awareness on the occasion of World Autism Awareness Day, 2 April.

The Department of Adult Social Care will hold the event in line with World Autism Awareness Day, declared by the United Nations (UN) to promote awareness.

As part of the event, organised under the slogan “Choose Red for Autism”, all buildings affiliated with the Department will be illuminated with red lights.

Red lights to stay on until morning

In order to raise awareness about autistic individuals and to better understand their needs, red lights will remain on from nightfall until morning for five days leading up to the night of 2 April at the Department’s buildings: Sümerpark Community Centre, Şehitlik Rest House, Kayapınar Rest House and Park Orman Active Life Centre.

Aiming to raise awareness

With such events, the Department of Adult Social Care aims to contribute to ensuring that autistic individuals take a greater place in society and to raise public awareness.
