Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality Co-Mayors Serra Bucak and Doğan Hatun attended the Easter Mass held at the Virgin Mary Church.

Easter was celebrated with a service at the Virgin Mary Syriac Orthodox Church in Diyarbakır’s Sur district. The Mass was attended by Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality Co-Mayors Serra Bucak and Doğan Hatun, Sur Municipality Co-Mayor Fatma Gulan Önkol, council members and citizens.

Following the prayers, guests were offered coloured eggs and Easter bread, traditional symbols of the celebration.

Restoration work at Surp Sarkis Church inspected

After the service, the Co-Mayors visited Surp Sarkis Church in the Alipaşa neighbourhood of Sur district, where restoration work has been ongoing for a year. Ergün Ayık, Chair of the Surp Giragos Armenian Church Foundation, provided the Co-Mayors with information about the church and the restoration process.
