Free EKPSS Preparation Course for Persons with Disabilities begins

Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality has started training on its free preparation courses for the Disabled Public Personnel Selection Examination (EKPSS) for secondary-school, associate-degree and bachelor’s graduates with disabilities.

The Department of Services for Persons with Disabilities and Older Adults, which continues its efforts to ensure that persons with disabilities take an active role in every sphere of life, has opened an EKPSS course for citizens preparing for the Disabled Public Personnel Selection Examination (EKPSS). The free EKPSS Preparation Course, open to secondary-school, associate-degree and bachelor’s graduates with disabilities, will last six months.

In the classroom opened at the Sümerpark Community Hub, students receive tuition in general ability and general knowledge, sit mock examinations, and are provided with guidance and motivation support. A total of 164 persons with disabilities have enrolled and are benefitting from the course. Students are also provided with EKPSS topic-based textbooks and question-bank books.

‘164 citizens with disabilities have applied’

Speaking about the programme, Emin Baran, Head of the Persons with Disabilities Branch of the Department of Services for Persons with Disabilities and Older Adults, noted that the course will run every weekday. Stating that the course will last six months, Baran said:

“As Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality, we have opened an EKPSS Course in order to facilitate and support our citizens with disabilities in accessing their employment rights. With teachers assigned by our Municipality and the Public Education Centre, our course continues every weekday. A total of 164 citizens with disabilities have applied to our six-month course. Our course has been opened in three strands for four disability groups. Aimed at secondary-school, associate-degree and bachelor’s graduates, our course will continue until April.”

Baran added that they have gifted every student a set of question-bank and topic-based textbooks, and that they will continue to provide mock tests and similar materials throughout the process.

Expressing satisfaction with the service provided, course participant Elif Boğatekin said she had started the course and added: “I’ve started to see results. I thank our Municipality for this service.”

Another participant, Velat Bozkuş, underlined that the Metropolitan Municipality is carrying out beneficial work for persons with disabilities, saying: “On behalf of myself and my friends, I would like to thank the Municipality for the service it provides. Truly, as friends who are idealists of the future, we are very pleased with this service.”
