Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality will open a stand at the 9th Diyarbakır Book Fair, to be held from 18–26 October, to promote the city.

Organised by TÜYAP in cooperation with the Turkish Publishers Association, the 9th Diyarbakır Book Fair will host more than 400 publishing houses and civil society organisations. Hundreds of authors will take part with book-signings and talks, bringing together book lovers from Diyarbakır and neighbouring provinces.

The Museums and Libraries Branch of the Department of Culture and Social Affairs has completed preparations to take part in the fair. The Municipality’s stand will be set up in Hall 2 on an 18-square-metre area, showcasing publications released by the Municipality and held in its archives on the city’s history, promotion, gastronomy and Kurdish literature. Visuals introducing Diyarbakır will be displayed on an LED screen; visitors to the stand will be provided with information about the city and offered various gifts such as keyrings, caps and brochures.

In addition, dengbêj performers—among the city’s key bearers of cultural heritage—will give recitals at the fair.
