Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality took part in a study visit to Japan organised by the Union of Municipalities of Türkiye (TBB) within the scope of the Project to Enhance Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Waste Management Capacity.

Within the scope of the Project to Enhance Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Waste Management Capacity, the study visit held in Japan by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has been completed.

The visit was carried out under the coordination of the Union of Municipalities of Türkiye (TBB), with the participation of Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality’s Head of the Department of Disaster Affairs, Azad Yıldız, together with representatives from Manisa Metropolitan Municipality, Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, Bilecik Municipality, Çanakkale Municipality, Düzce Municipality and Denizli Metropolitan Municipality.

During the training, technical visits were made to institutions such as the Cabinet Office, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, the Ikebukuro Bōsai (Disaster Prevention) Centre and the Nippon Koei Research Institute.

At the end of the programme, participants prepared disaster action plans at the local level and received training certificates.
