Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality is providing a three-day training course on “Gender equality and communication with disadvantaged groups” for bus drivers, with the aim of building awareness around gender equality.
In order to raise awareness of gender inequality, the Department of Transport is delivering training on “Gender equality and communication with disadvantaged groups” to 560 public transport drivers working within the department. The training, held in the Assembly Hall of the Diyarbakır Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DTSO), is delivered by trainer Handan Coşkun. The training programme, which will run until 7 November with morning and afternoon sessions over three days, will consist of six sessions.
Efforts to build awareness through training
The training, which addresses gender equality and communication with disadvantaged groups, is conducted interactively with the drivers. The programme aims to raise awareness about communication with women, children, older people and disabled people as part of broader efforts to promote gender equality.
Emphasis on preventive and protective training
When planning the training topics, attention is paid to ensuring that the sessions are preventive and protective in nature, and that they support change and awareness-raising.
The training will conclude after the sixth session, which will be held on Friday afternoon.
