Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality (DBB) took part in the 28th “Kadın Sığınakları ve Da(ya)nışma Merkezleri Kurultayı” (Conference on Women’s Shelters and Solidarity Centres), contributing to strengthening women’s solidarity and the sharing of experience.
The Department of Women’s and Family Services attended the 28th Conference on Women’s Shelters and Solidarity Centres, held in Istanbul on 1–3 November.
This year’s conference, organised under the theme “Combating Male Violence in the Absence of Social Services in Turkey: The Power and Possibilities of Feminist Governance”, discussed gaps in the field of social services, access to justice and the importance of a feminist approach to governance. At the conference, DBB presented its work on women’s empowerment, combating male violence and the responsibilities of local authorities.
The conference brought together more than 320 women from 84 institutions and municipalities across Turkey, underlining the need to strengthen equality-based policies grounded in women’s perspectives and to enhance solidarity between women’s organisations and local governments.
