Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality has organised a workshop to highlight women’s age-old bond with nature and to give waste materials a new aesthetic and functional life through upcycling.
The Department of Climate Change and Zero Waste held the workshop at the Agroecology Climate School with the aim of reusing waste materials and reducing waste generation. The event, supported by trainers from the Department of Women’s and Family Services, also drew attention to the impacts of consumer culture.
Waste turned into functional products
In the workshop, women reshaped waste plastic, glass and metal into functional items. The activity not only helps to reduce waste, but also sets an example for promoting a culture of reuse.
