Pervin Chakar’s Masterclass Concludes with a Concert

The two-day opera singing masterclass led by world-renowned opera artist Pervin Chakar, aimed at discovering young talents, concluded with a concert performance. Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality Co-Mayors Serra Bucak and Doğan Hatun attended the concert to support the young artists.

With the support of the Department of Culture and Social Affairs, the opera singing masterclass under the direction of artist Pervin Chakar came to an end. Following the programme, which brought together Kurdish music and opera, 14 young participants performed in a concert at Çand Amed Culture and Congress Centre under Chakar’s direction.

Support from the Co-Mayors to Young Artists

The event was attended by Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality Co-Mayors Serra Bucak and Doğan Hatun, along with members of the DBB Council and Chief Executive Emrullah Gördük.

Kurdish Melodies Performed

Among the performers were students from state conservatory opera departments as well as those trained in Kurdish folk music, including Buse Özer, Seyit Erdaş, Semanur Nurbaki, Muhteşem Civan Gidici, Mehmet Reşat Ekti, Dilan Yıldırım, Helin Kızıltan, Azad Arıs, Arşin Yılmaz, Renas Argül, Hebat Yiğit, Esra Tayfur, Mehmet Ögel and Kader Azar, accompanied on piano by Pınar Tahiroğlu. At the concert, the 14 trainees performed Kurdish melodies and arias.

‘They Need Someone to Guide Them’

Speaking at the concert, artist Pervin Chakar stated that she has been working in this profession for 25 years and continues to do so. She noted that the young people in their twenties, who had received training over the past two days, performed pieces in languages they neither knew nor understood, apart from Kurdish, and expressed their excitement. Mentioning that she studied at the Fine Arts High School in Diyarbakır and later received conservatory education in Ankara and Italy, Chakar reminded the audience that becoming an opera artist is not easy, and continued:

“Someone needs to guide them. They need people. I will try to guide them as much as I can. My greatest achievement here is to broaden their horizons, to contribute something to them and to inspire them. My aim is to bring out people who will say, ‘I must become an opera artist.’”

Flowers Presented to the Artists

At the end of the programme, Co-Mayors Serra Bucak and Doğan Hatun presented flowers to the artists, while Zeynep Yaş, Head of the Department of Culture and Social Affairs, presented certificates to the participants.

‘This Place is Your Home’

Thanking Pervin Chakar and the artists, Yaş said:

“As you can see, this was a two-day process. Pervin Chakar wholeheartedly offered this project to us. The opening of the Aram Tigran Conservatory had just begun. Now our students are turning towards the conservatory. We hope that Çand Amed becomes a home for artists. I also hope that our artists will showcase themselves in this cultural centre. May this place always grow and develop, and may our memories increase along with the works. This place is your home, this place is your nest.”
