‘Amed Peace Meetings’ Begin

Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality is organising the “Amed Peace Meetings” to bring together people from different communities, faiths and cultures and to address peace in all its dimensions.

With this project, Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality aims to create a platform where peace will be discussed in all its aspects and a common future can be built. As part of the project, communities of different peoples, beliefs and cultures will come together to consider the concept of peace from every perspective. The initiative aims to shed light on past sufferings and to discuss the possibilities of peaceful coexistence. Politicians, writers, academics and participants from diverse parts of society will take part in the meetings.

To Last Seven Months

The meetings will address the impact of migration on society, as well as the security, economic, legal, social and political obstacles faced by those wishing to return to their neighbourhoods, villages and cities. Planned to be held once a month, the events will continue for seven months.

First Meeting on 28 September

The first event, organised with the support of the Mesopotamia Migration Monitoring and Research Association, will take place on Sunday, 28 September between 16:00 and 18:00 at Cemilpaşa Mansion in the Sur district. The theme of the event will be “Migration, Return and Peace.”
