Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality Council has unanimously decided to provide gender equality training for its staff.
The Metropolitan Municipality Council added gender training to its agenda at its regular meeting in August. The Council, which discussed the issue at its session on 12 August, unanimously approved the report prepared by the Women's Commission on the establishment of training workshops to provide training to council members, department heads, branch managers and municipal staff with the aim of ensuring women's place in society, equal opportunities and social equality, and preventing women from being subjected to mobbing in the workplace.
Following the Council’s decision, the Department of Women and Family Services will launch gender equality training as part of a programme to be developed, aimed at countering the marginalisation of women.
