Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality’s Department of Women and Family Services is conducting awareness trainings on gender inequality.
The Department of Women and Family Services has begun training courses at Women's Life Centres located in different neighbourhoods. Women trainees and master trainers are participating in the trainings held at the Women’s Life Centres.
Speaking at the trainings held in the Women’s Life Centres of Koşuyolu, Ben-u Sen, Lalabey and Mardinkapı, Özden Gürbüz Sümer, Head of the Department of Women and Family Services, presented the projects prepared by the Metropolitan Municipality for women and listened to the demands raised by the participants.
Afterwards, Psychologist Dilan Güven provided information to women on “The concepts of sex and gender and the differences between them” and “Gender roles and the inequalities created by these roles in society.”
Trainings will continue
As part of the programme, trainings will be held at the Yeniköy Women’s Life Centre on Thursday, 23 May, and at the Ahmet Arif Women’s Life Centre on Friday, 24 May.
Women talk about their situations
At the event, women spoke about the situations they experience in society due to being women, and, by creating social solidarity beyond the courses, they find the opportunity to express themselves.
