Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality Council has decided to organise educational seminars in neighbourhoods on gender equality and women’s legal rights.

The first session of the Metropolitan Municipality Council’s regular December meeting was chaired by Deputy Speaker Evin Yelboğa. The meeting, held at the Metropolitan Municipality service building, was attended by council members.

During the meeting, which addressed the agenda items, the report of the Women’s Commission on conducting educational activities in neighbourhoods regarding women’s legal rights was discussed. The Council, by majority vote, approved the proposal to hold educational seminars in neighbourhoods to promote gender equality, to inform women of their legal rights in the face of violence, and to strengthen solidarity among women.

Following the decision, the programme of educational seminars will commence.
