Guests who came to the city for the UCLG-MEWA Joint Meeting of the Executive Bureau and Council, to be hosted by Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality, toured historical and cultural sites. Co-Mayors Serra Bucak and Doğan Hatun met with the guests at a reception following the tour.

Nearly 30 mayors, co-mayors and senior officials of metropolitan municipalities from Turkey and abroad arrived in Diyarbakır for the United Cities and Local Governments Middle East and West Asia Regional Organisation (UCLG-MEWA) Joint Meeting of the Executive Bureau and Council, which will be held on 23–24 October under the auspices of Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality.

The Metropolitan Municipality organised a tour event of the city’s historical and cultural sites for the guests who came to Diyarbakır.

Guides from the Tourism Branch Directorate, under the Department of Culture and Social Affairs, provided the guests with information in English and Arabic about Diyarbakır’s historical and cultural landmarks during the tour.

Accompanied by municipal council members and staff, the guests visited İçkale, the Mosque of Prophet Suleyman, Surp Giragos Church, the Four-Legged Minaret, Hasan Pasha Inn, the Great Mosque, Çarşiya Şewitî, the Dengbêj House and Cemil Pasha Mansion.

Co-Mayors Met with Guests at the Reception

The guests later proceeded to Cemil Pasha Mansion. Co-Mayors of the Metropolitan Municipality Serra Bucak and DoÄŸan Hatun met and conversed with the guests at the reception held at the mansion.
